Xavier Siméon will start tomorrow from the fourth row of the grid in the historic Dutch TT at Assen: the Belgian rider qualified the Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 Suter machine in tenth place in this afternoon's qualifying session with a time of 1’38”043.With a gap of just seven tenths of a second from pole position, Siméon will try to further reduce the gap during tomorrow morning warm-up, especially in the first sector of the track, and then he will launch his attack from the fourth row with the goal of gain important points for the championship.Aboard the Team Gresini Moto2 Suter, Lorenzo Baldassarri finished the Qualifying in 25th. place, improving his best lap time from yesterday by one second and reducing the gap to his rivals.
XAVIER SIMEON (10th - 1'38"043) “I'm satisfied with this result: all the top ten riders are very close, with exception of the first two or three, who are a little faster. In my last attempt I could also clinch a place in the second row, but in the last sector I found some slow riders and as a result I lost a couple of tenths. I'm happy with the overall situation: we have improved a lot compared to the last two races and today we missed very little to be as fast as the first. Unfortunately we still lose a lot of ground in the first sector: there we lose 4 of the 7 thenths of a second of our gap: tomorrow we will work in an attempt to reduce the gap, then first of all it will be important to complete the race and collect points, because lately I have not been very consistent”.
LORENZO BALDASSARRI (25th - 1'38"963) “We made many adjustments to the bike set-up and now the situation is better than yesterday, though I still can’t ride as I would like. Especially, I lose a lot of time at Turn 5: I can’t exit quickly from the hairpin, therefore I lose speed, and this affects me for the rest of the lap. I also struggle on corner entry, but I don’t want to make further changes to the bike set-up for the race. We start back on the grid but we can still fight for a good position, because the gap to the other riders in front of me is not high”.
FAUSTO GRESINI “Siméon is not far from the top: we just need to figure out how to improve our performance in the first sector of the track, where at the moment we lose 4 of the 7 tenths of a second of the total gap… We will analyze in detail all the data to understand how to help Xavier in that part of the track and we are convinced that we can do it tomorrow morning during warm-up. We are therefore confident for the race. Regarding Baldassarri, he has improved his lap times from yesterday: although he will start only from 25th place on the grid, we believe that tomorrow he can fight for a good result”.Published on : Jun 26 2014
