Xavier Siméon and the Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 leave Misano without collecting points: the Belgian rider took today the 16th place in the Grand Prix of San Marino and Riviera di Rimini, a disappointing result once again below the expectations in a weekend which started uphill from the beginning.Siméon rued several problems in corner entry which didn’t allow him to keep a good pace and therefore to recover positions after a difficult qualifying session, which put him back in sixth row on the grid.Aboard the Team Gresini Moto2 Suter, Lorenzo Baldassarri lived a complicated Sunday, ended with the 25th position: the young Italian rookie lost positions in the early stages following a contact, then he continued to struggle without getting the right feeling with the bike.
XAVIER SIMEON (16th) “I had big problems in stopping the bike into the corner and this slowed me down throughout the whole race. I’m obviously very disappointed: fighting to the limit to try to take one point is really difficult to accept. Unfortunately I cannot get a good cornering speed and this penalizes us for the whole lap. We need to think calmly in order to find a solution to be back at a good level of competitiveness”.
LORENZO BALDASSARRI (25th) “It was a disastrous race, unfortunately. I couldn’t push and I was very far from my limit; in addition, at some point I even touched with another rider, losing several positions. In the end I managed to keep a good pace, but on the last lap the gearbox came in neutral, I almost fell and I lost another position. I can’t find the feeling to enter quick in the corner, especially in the fast sections, and today and it was hard to avoid a crash, so I just tried to finish the race”.
FAUSTO GRESINI “These are not the results we expect to obtain, today we had another race below expectations. It’s clear that we must try to find - all together, team and riders - the right way to return to a good level of competitiveness. We keep working hard and we tried many different solutions, but we are still having a hard time, no doubt”.
