The Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 and Xavier Siméon head this weekend to the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli to compete in the round number 13 of the 2014 Moto2 World Championship: the target of the Belgian rider, who has just turned 25, is to improve his performance in qualifying, in order to start from a more advanced position on the starting grid. In the last few races, in fact, Siméon proved to be consistent during the race, but has always been slowed down by the poor starting position. Aboard the Team Gresini Moto2 Suter machine, which will bear the Tortellini Soverini livery during this Grand Prix, rookie Lorenzo Baldassarri will find a well-known track on which he will try to return to score points.
XAVIER SIMEON “Despite the last few races have not been positive, we head to Misano with high motivation: I think that the most important thing to do this weekend is to try to be fast right from the start and try to be competitive in qualifying, an area on which we have been struggling lately, because we have seen that in the race we can keep a good pace. I like the track, which includes both slow and fast corners: obviously I’d like to give a good result to the team in its home Grand Prix”.
LORENZO BALDASSARRI “At Silverstone unfortunately my Grand Prix ended with a crash and these kind of things affect your confidence, so we’ll try to work to make the bike behave in a more sincere way, especially when you try to push hard, in order to gradually regain the right feeling. This is really important because you may compromise the qualifications if you don’t find a good balance, and therefore compromise also the race, starting from the back. The positive thing is that I know the track really well, so I can concentrate more on the bike set-up and I will not need a lot of laps to learn how to approach the track with the Moto2”.
FAUSTO GRESINI “We are very determined to make a breakthrough in performance with both our riders, although it won’t be easy, no doubt, because the fight in Moto2 is really tight, with all the riders very close. After a very competitive period we struggled more than expected with Siméon, but we hope that the home race can be an incentive for all of us: we never give up and we will try to give both to Xavier and Lorenzo Baldassarri a good bike, with which they can give their maximum and collect the results so that we couldn’t get lately”.
