POINTS SCORING FINISH FROM ENEA IN INDIANAPOLIS. DETERMINED RACE FOR NICCOLO'

The Indianapolis Grand Prix saw the Junior Team GO&FUN Moto3 duo, formed by Enea Bastianini and Niccolò Antonelli, scoring an eleventh and an eighteenth place, respectively. Started very well from the sixth row, after only 4 laps Bastianini took the lead in the second group of riders, in eighth place, but on lap six he went wide on the last corner, losing ground and rejoining the track back in 17th. The 16-year-old from Rimini has not, however, lost his nerve and recovered six positions setting very good laptimes, reaching and overtaking with six laps to go rivals Jorge Navarro and Karel Hanika. His teammate, Niccolò Antonelli, produced a determined performance: despite the fractured right collarbone, operated only two weeks ago, the 18-year-old Italian rider stood in 15th position for most of the race, until a normal fatigue caused him to slow down and cross the finish line outside the points in 18th position. NICCOLO' ANTONELLI (18th)“I’m happy with my race: I started with calm and after a while I saw that I was recovering positions; the bike was working well and I could keep a good pace. This, however, is a very tiring track, and already this morning during the Warm Up I felt tired. After only 8 or 9 laps I was really tired. I tried to hold on, but at a certain point I had to give up, I lacked the strength in my arms and it was no longer possible to maintain that pace. In a week time there will be Brno, a track less demanding physically where I want to attack!”. ENEA BASTIANINI (11°)“On the sixth lap, when I was entering the last corner, I lost the front and I was forced to go wide. Luckily, using the rear brake I managed to get back on track and resume the race. Unfortunately, in the last few races there is always something that prevents us from being at the top. This is disappointing, but I can be satisfied because later on I was able to keep a good pace and in the end I was also catching the leading group. For the future it will be necessary to do better qualifications, in order to start in a more advanced position on the grid, because otherwise it becomes difficult to recover”.FAUSTO GRESINI“Unfortunately, Enea lost time going off the track on the sixth lap, even though later he managed to recover very well, coming very close to catch again the leading group. Too bad, because if he had been with them, he could play his cards to get a very important result. It's part of the game, although in the recent races there is always something that prevents us to score good results, and obviously this is disappointing because the potential is very high. Niccolò was very tired and without strength at the end of the race: congratulations to him, because it was not easy to race with that collarbone injury”.
