It was an exciting day of qualifications today at Silverstone for the Junior Team GO&FUN Moto3 as both Niccolò Antonelli and Enea Bastianini set the second and the fourth fastest time respectively and will thus start tomorrow’s British Grand Prix from the first two rows of the grid.A great team performance, with Niccolò Antonelli who just missed out on the pole position with a 2’13”224, a lap time below the previous circuit record. Only Spaniard Alex Rins, poleman in 2’13”112, was able to beat the 18-year-old rider from Cattolica. After a complicated third free practice session, also Enea Bastianini rode at the best his KTM during qualifying, scoring an excellent 2’13”711 that will secure him to start from the first spot of the second row tomorrow.
NICCOLO' ANTONELLI (2nd - 2'13"224) “I’m delighted! We have been fast all weekend and compared to Brno things here has been much easier since the beginning, and this is very positive. We’re having a good time, but now the most important thing to do is try to be more aggressive in the race, otherwise we might get stuck in the middle of the group like it happened in Brno. I need to be stronger in the fights in order to battle for the top positions”.
ENEA BASTIANINI (4th - 2'13"711) “Honestly speaking, this morning, after the third free practice session, I was a bit worried ahead of qualifying because I didn’t feel at ease with the bike and I was not able to gain confidence. Then, in the afternoon, we changed the bike for qualifying and I immediately had a great time, I rode better and this is the result. Now we can say that we have done all the work we need to be competitive for the race, so we are very confident”.
FAUSTO GRESINI “Today we got our best qualifying performance of the season and therefore we are satisfied: starting from the first and the second row means a lot ahead of the race. In addition, we are proving to be competitive since the beginning of the weekend, so we expect to be fighting for the top positions tomorrow. Congratulations to Niccolò, who has improved so much in recent times, and also to Enea, who once again confirmed himself as a protagonist”.
