FOURTH AND FIFTH ROW FOR JUNIOR TEAM GO&FUN MOTO3 DUO AT A SWELTERING SEPANG

FOURTH AND FIFTH ROW FOR JUNIOR TEAM GO&FUN MOTO3 DUO AT A SWELTERING SEPANG

The penultimate round of the 2014 Moto3 campaign, the Malaysian Grand Prix scheduled for tomorrow at the Sepang International Circuit, will see the Junior Team GO&FUN Moto3 pair of Enea Bastianini and Niccolò Antonelli starting from the fourth and fifth row of the grid, respectively. In a sweltering qualifying session Enea Bastianini set the tenth fastest time, 2’13”709, thus improving by half a second his limit previously set during the three free practice sessions; a pretty good result, given that this is the first visit to Sepang for the 16-year-old rider from Rimini. His teammate, Niccolò Antonelli, the fastest yesterday, on the other hand had a troubled day: in the morning he was slowed down by a technical problem, then in qualifying he was disturbed by the detachment of a knee slider: therefore, the 18-year-old rider from Cattolica was not able to replicate the lap time obtained yesterday, ending the qualifying session in thirteenth place with 2’13”990. NICCOLO' ANTONELLI (13th - 2'13"990)“Today I had a lot of bad luck: this morning, during the last free practice session, I lost time due to a technical problem, then I had another problem at the beginning of the qualifying session. In addition, when I managed to get back on track I lost a knee slider, probably due to a collision with a curb: I almost crashed because it went under a wheel. Given all the trouble, today I couldn’t complete many laps. Too bad, yesterday we finished the first day in the lead and today we could definitely obtain more. Tomorrow we will start the race from behind, but we can recover”. ENEA BASTIANINI (10th - 2'13"709)“I’m satisfied with this result: the tenth place all in all is a great achievement if we consider my last performance in qualifying. This morning we were struggling a little bit, but in the afternoon we were able to recover quickly, solving a few minor issues: the situation has improved in all areas of the circuit and eventually we were able to set a good lap time. Too bad only for the heavy traffic encountered at the end of the qualifying session, without which we could probably improve further, but that’s okay. I’m confident for tomorrow's race: there will be a lot of heat, but I'm not worried about it”.FAUSTO GRESINI“I’m a little disappointed to having lose a position on the grid with both our riders at the very end of the qualifying session: just before the checkered flag we were in ninth and twelfth position with Enea and Niccolò, which would have meant starting from the third and fourth row, but then we found ourselves one row behind with both riders. On the track there was a lot of traffic and it was difficult to get a clean lap; in addition, Niccolò had a problem with a knee slider that made him lose valuable time. It won’t be an easy race, of course, because we start from behind, but I still think that we can try to stay with the leading group. We are all very close, and we expect a close race: it won’t be easy to make a difference and the slipstreams will be very important”.
