BASTIANINI AND ANTONELLI TO BEGIN ARAGON BATTLE FROM SECOND AND THIRD ROW

BASTIANINI AND ANTONELLI TO BEGIN ARAGON BATTLE FROM SECOND AND THIRD ROW

The qualifying session of the Aragon Grand Prix saw this afternoon a good result for the Junior Team GO&FUN Moto3 duo: both Enea Bastianini and Niccolo Antonelli were in fact able to stay in the first three rows of the grid, having claimed the sixth and ninth position, respectively. In the final stages of the qualifying session, Enea Bastianini set a lap time of 1’58”647, just three tenths of a second off Alex Rins’ pole position time. His teammate Niccolò Antonelli, who didn’t take part at this morning’s third and final free practice session due to a technical problem and affected by pain on his right collarbone, was still able to get a very similar lap time, 1’58”770.

NICCOLO' ANTONELLI (9th - 1'58"770) “I’m very happy! If I consider the pain on my shoulder and the fact that this morning I couldn’t take part in the last free practice session, the third row is a result that satisfies me, also because we really are all very close, with a gap from the first of just 0.4 seconds. Tomorrow I hope to be able to complete all the race, otherwise I will be forced to slow down, or even to retire: I will take painkillers, and we'll see. Anyway, I’m happy also because so far I managed to ride and this is positive ahead of the upcoming races.”

ENEA BASTIANINI (6th - 1'58"647) “I couldn’t take full advantage of the potential of the new tyre, therefore I set my best lap time with an already worn tyre, but it is fine: after all, this second row is my second best qualifying result of the year, so I can be satisfied! We are working well and my feelings are good, so we are confident for the race.”

FAUSTO GRESINI “The second and third row is a good starting point and certainly tomorrow we will have the opportunity to do a good race with both our riders. Today Bastianini could get something more, but it’s okay like this: we are aware that Enea usually gives his best during the race. I’m also happy for Niccolò who, despite the engine problem he suffered this morning, and the recent surgery on his right collarbone, today made a very good job and I hope that tomorrow he can show his true potential.”
