BASTIANINI AND ANTONELLI TARGET THE PODIUM AT SILVERSTONE

The Junior Team GO&FUN Moto3 young guns, Enea Bastianini and Niccolò Antonelli, target the podium in round number 12 of the 2014 Moto3 World Championship, which is taking place this weekend at the historic Silverstone circuit. Fresh from his second place finish at Brno, despite the fracture of the heel bone of his right foot sustained during practice, Enea Bastianini will try to confirm himself at the top on another track that has already got to know last year in the MotoGP Rookies Cup. The 16-year-old rider from Rimini, who was second also last June in Barcelona, is currently eighth in the overall standings with 71 points, first among rookies. His teammate, Niccolò Antonelli, who started on the front row at Brno but then got stuck in the middle of the leading group, consisting of no less than 16 riders, will return to the attack with a more aggressive strategy, in order to try to stay in the fight for the top positions also in the final stages of the race.
NICCOLO' ANTONELLI “Silverstone is a fast and very technical track, with some parts that I like very much: like in Brno, the slipstreams will be important, so we might see another race with a big group in the lead; therefore, it will be important to adopt a good strategy, with more aggressive overtaking maneuvers. In Brno, in fact, I got stuck in the middle of the leading group and I couldn’t come back even though I had the pace to do so. The recovery from the collarbone injury is going well: it’s still annoying me a little bit, but I have been able to train in these days, therefore I can count on more strength, and this is very positive”.
ENEA BASTIANINI “I still cannot put my right foot on the ground, it’s still too early to do so, but the recovery of the fracture of the heel bone is going well: I am doing as much as I can to get to Silverstone in the best physical condition, although of course I do not expect to be 100%. I raced at Silverstone last year the Rookies Cup and although I was not able to pick up a good result, I liked the track... As we have seen also in Brno, now in Moto3 the fight for victory is open to a very large group of riders: I expect another very tight battle, but I wouldn’t mind if we are a bit less up at the front to fight... everything would be easier!”.
FAUSTO GRESINI “At Silverstone we expect another thrilling battle for the victory: in Brno we have been able to stay with both riders in the leading group and we expect to do so again. Both Bastianini and Antonelli have had a little rest to recover from their injuries and given that already in Brno they were very competitive, we look with optimism to this race which is held on a long and fast track where likely we will see another tight challenge”.
