ANOTHER DOUBLE TOP TEN FINISH FOR THE JUNIOR TEAM GO&FUN MOTO3 IN JAPAN

ANOTHER DOUBLE TOP TEN FINISH FOR THE JUNIOR TEAM GO&FUN MOTO3 IN JAPAN

The triple-header of races outside of Europe kicked off with a double top ten finish for the Junior Team GO&FUN Moto3: Enea Bastianini and Niccolò Antonelli took infact the eighth and ninth place, respectively, at the end of the Grand Prix of Japan, which took place today at the Twin Ring Motegi circuit.Started from fifteenth on the grid and immediately up in ninth at the first corner, Enea Bastianini always remained in the top positions of the second group of riders, but he couldn’t catch the leading group, also because of the battle with other riders including Fenati, Rins and teammate Antonelli . Thanks to the points of the eighth place - the twelfth points finish out of 15 races - the 16-year-old from Rimini claimed the title of “Rookie of the Year” with three races to go. In addition, the gap from the seventh position in the Championship standings, currently held by Spaniard Isaac Vinales, eleventh today, it was reduced to only 5 points.Starting from the front row with the second fastest time, Niccolò Antonelli struggled to keep a good rhythm in the early stages of the race with a full tank and he was therefore not able to stay with the front runners, finding himself in a fight with his teammate, eventually crossing the finish line immediately behind him. With the ninth place, the 18-year-old rider from Cattolica replicated the result obtained two weeks ago at Aragon. NICCOLO' ANTONELLI (9th)“Unfortunately, once again I struggled in the early laps with a full tank; from mid-race onwards, when the fuel dropped down, I could start to push hard, but at that point the leading group was already too far and we couldn’t close the gap to them, despite our lap times were similar and sometimes even better than those of the riders of the leading group. This track, with so many strong braking areas, was the most critical for me, so now I’m looking forward to Phillip Island, a track that I really like, with fast and sweeping corners, where I hope to get a better result. But it will be important not to lose so much ground in the first half of the race”. ENEA BASTIANINI (8th)“I had a good start, but then I lost time fighting with other riders: we disturbed eachother and therefore we were not able to close the gap from the leading group. Too bad, but the races are like that! The good thing is that today I was able to ride better than yesterday, and even compared to this morning’s warm up: however we can still improve further in the upcoming races, because we are not in top form yet. Winning the “Rookie of the Year” in advance is a great feeling, but now we need to stay focused ahead of the upcoming races, because we can still recover some positions in the Championship standings and thanks to the points raised today, the seventh place is now really close”.
